A "Bakuvian" is not a line in a passport but a way of living: with humour, warmth and a signature "ə" at the start of a sentence. A city where a hundred peoples lived in one courtyard and learned to understand each other from half a word.
Who they are
Asked "what is your nationality?", a true Bakuvian answers: "Bakuvian." It is not an evasion but a precise definition of a character forged by the oil boom, Soviet internationalism and the closeness of the old courtyard.
Warm, loud, hospitable, ironic about itself and the world, speaking its own special language — that is how the city made its people. And they carried it across the whole world.

Baku humour is known far beyond the city: warm, quick, self-ironic and playing on two languages at once. KVN teams from Baku thundered across the whole country, and in the courtyard a good joke was valued no less than a good pilaf.
